What it’s like to be targeted by 15 Hamas rockets…then watch your missile defense system work

If you’ve wondered what it’s like to live in a war zone where you’re under constant threat of attack, this is a small slice of daily life for those caught in the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

An Israeli on the ground captured fellow residents running towards bomb shelters as warning sirens blared. When 15 rockets are fired by Hamas simultaneously, residents are left to hope Israel’s Iron Dome defense system works…

Paul, while I understand that people who support one side or another will interpret this differently, my intention in posting this was simply to show how a missile defense system works to defend someone who’s being targeted by rockets. It’s not often we see footage like this. The point certainly wasn’t to take sides in the conflict. In fact, the last post we featured on the conflict was arguably more favorable to Palestine, though again, our intent with that post wasn’t to favor either side of the conflict.

Max, thanks for your statement. It helps to understand the system as it is intended. My question is: Shouldn’t the drones, which I understand to be the critical part of the “Iron Dome” be *visible* in this video? Like: You see the missiles coming up from the horizon in the one direction – and then, a few seconds after that, the drones (maybe visible just as black points in this case) approach from the other direction. (You wrote: “…once those rockets are identified as incoming, Israel fires it’s own missiles to hit the incoming rockets in the air.”) Max, as you seem to know things from first hand, maybe you can give us a link to another evidence for this process. What we see in the in the vid above leaves some questions open.

astonished that you chose this article to show.. I have seen nothing form this site about the appalling devastation Isreal inflicts upon Palestine daily.. The two situations are entirely and completely non-comparable.. Isreal is very well funded (mostly by America) and brutally aggressive.. Palestine is a poverty stricken pile of dead bodies and rubble.. This is one directional abuse of power and genocide at it worst..I will be unsubscribing form this site now.. Shame to miss the happy lambs..

I don’t get it. Where are the drones? It looks like fireworks. And the people’s reaction fits in this picture. Coud somebody please explain to a silly European pacifist?

“Because Israel doesn’t have the awful graphics of civilians being murdered by the constant rockets fired by Hamas – the constant rocket threat to Israel is not all over the news.”What an impressively weird thing to say. The Iron Dome has a success rate of 90%, granted some rockets get through, but while the Israelis doesn´t have a “graphic war, they can sell”, the Palestinians DO have the body count. I´m pretty sure the Palestinians would jump at the chance to switch with the Israelis. Since the fighting started in July, more than 2100 Palestininans have died, half of them civillians. On the Israeli side 64 people have died, which includes 3 civillians and a Thai national. In other words, throughout the latest conflict the Iron Dome has been working almost flawlessly.Don´t get me wrong, the fact that fewer people are dying because of the Iron Dome is something I think is great. But saying that you feel sorry for the Israelis because they´re not able to sell a palpitable war is beyond one sided. I´m not trying to inflame the discussion, but my curiosity is getting the better of me, so I have to ask, what´s worse being threatened by rockets or actually being killed?

OK, got it. I had to watch about 5 times in full screen until I finally saw the lighter comtrails coming from another direction. No more questions on this (except the peoples reaction, maybe).

OK, Max was talking about Missiles. That’s something else, but, nevertheless, the video needs to show *two* kinds of flying objects to accord with its description.

Hey cer – think being a “silly European pacifist” is even more reason to know the details and facts 🙂 The “Iron Dome” is the name that has been to the Israeli missile defense system. The system monitors rockets fired at Israel by Hamas in Palestine, once those rockets are identified as incoming, Israel fires it’s own missiles to hit the incoming rockets in the air. I think Israel can detect out as far as 70km(not sure) . Anyway the success of this system is a blessing and a curse for Israel.Blessing because MANY innocents in Israel have been saved by this system of shooting down rockets before they hit civilians and curse for the same reasons! Because Israel doesn’t have the awful graphics of civilians being murdered by the constant rockets fired by Hamas – the constant rocket threat to Israel is not all over the news. And it is almost constant – 1000+ is not an exaggeration. Dreadful situation.
