A Union Pacific train crashed into a stranded semi-truck near Chowchilla, California, Sunday afternoon. KFSN-TV reports that the truck driver was walking down the tracks frantically waving at the train to slow down, but the train was unable to stop in time. The trailer was demolished on impact, sending its cargo, boxes of trail mix flying. The nearly mile-long train was carrying hundreds of military vehicles, mostly Stryker armored personnel carriers, from Ft. Lewis, Washington, to Fort Irwin, California.
