Rahm Emanuel on removal of God: ‘I’ve never read our party’s platform’

The Democrats seem happy enough to talk about what’s in the platform they just adopted, but they wish you’d quit asking about what they left out of it, and why. Fox News’ Bret Baier dared to ask Sen. Dick Durbin why any mention of God had been removed from the platform, leaving Durbin to charge Fox of framing his party as “godless.”

Cornered by CNN’s Candy Crowley immediately following his speech to the DNC, Rahm Emanuel was less combative, saying only that he’s never read the party’s platform.

God bless you, Rahm Emanuel. Reading is for fools! MT: @LisaDCNN RAHM EMANUEL ON CNN: "Personally, I've never read our party's platform."

@LisaDCNN I did this afternoon. He'd like it. It reads like the Communist Manifesto. While RNC platform reads like a business plan.

Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs might be your best bet for an answer. “All of us here — a lot of us here — believe in a higher power,” Gibbs told CNN. So, why deliberately write God out of the platform? Um, what was the question?
