How to Take a $250,000 Selfie
Last week, Jared Frank uploaded the ultimate selfie video to YouTube. While on vacation in Peru, Frank decided to take a video of himself in front of a passing train, only to get a swift kick in the head by the conductor.
The Internet, in all of its schadenfreudian glory, made the video a viral sensation with more than 27 million views in just one week. Now, it looks like Jared is going to be cashing in big time thanks to the mishap.
Frank confirmed to CBC News this week that he has agreed to work with Junkin Media, a California-based agency. At an estimate of $2 to $16 per 1,000 views, with a 70% cut of the revenue, Frank could make anywhere between $30,000 and $250,000 in licensing fees.
So the moral of the story is: Take more selfies.
