Former NFL player dying of ALS discusses fatherhood with Pearl Jam in a very touching interview
Former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2011. Now, at age 36, his body is almost completely debilitated. One of his main goals in life is to prepare a journal for his young son saying everything he won’t be able to in the years to come, since he probably won’t be around for the boy much longer.
As a friend of Pearl Jam’s guitar player, Gleason had a chance to sit down with the band recently for an interview. Because of his own situation, as a man trying to prepare his family for his passing, Gleason made sure to ask Eddie Vedder about growing up without his father.
Their conversation and Gleason’s story in general is more than a little poignant…
This video needs more comments!I lost it when he asked Eddie Vedder that question. I wish him all the strength during these difficult times.
