Emma Watson honors her dead hamster on stage at awards show
Emma Watson grew up on the set of Harry Potter, so it makes sense for her to regard everyone from the franchise as family — including her on-stage hamster.
While accepting the prestigious Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year, broadcasted Sunday on BBC America, Watson honored her furry little friend, Millie from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Watson still clearly remembers the royal treatment the cast and crew gave Millie when he died while filming the first film; they built him a hamster-sized mahogany casket with velvet lining and a silver plaque engraved with his name.
It just goes to show the enormity of mutual respect Harry Potter cast members have for one another, no matter how big or small their role.
Rest in peace, Millie. This one’s for you.
