Donald Trump Defends Himself on Twitter After Brian Williams Burn
Along with the nightly news, NBC anchor Brian Williams delivered an Election Day diss to one Donald Trump, on air.
While covering the U.S. election Tuesday night, Williams reluctantly reported on Trump’s Twitter tirade after President Barack Obama won re-election.
“Donald Trump, who has driven well past the last exit to relevance and veered into something closer to irresponsible, here, is tweeting tonight.”
Williams then goes on to read out Trump’s tweets, concluding with the statement, “So there you have that. That happened.”
Trump — who, as we know, is not one to take insults quietly — responded to @BWilliams (the anchor’s official Twitter handle) and @NBCNightlyNews, with typical Trump-esque fervor.
Brian, if I’m “well past the last exit to relevance” how come you spent so much time reading my tweets last night? @nbcnightlynews

Brian Williams was never a smart guy but always passes himself off as such. People will learn the truth! @nbcnightlynews

Brian, I hope @nbcnightlynews isn’t paying you too much—look at what’s happening to nightly news.

Brian—Thanks dummy—I picked up 70,000 twitter followers yesterday alone. Cable News just passed you in the ratings. @nbcnightlynews

.@bwilliams—wouldn’t you love to have my ratings?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 7, 2012
.@bwilliams knows that I think his newscast has become totally boring so he took a shot at me last night.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 7, 2012
The only thing more boring than @bwilliams newscast is his show Rock Center which is totally dying in the ratings—a disaster!

Trump also deleted some of his angry tweets from Tuesday, including “He lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country!” (Obama narrowly won the popular vote).
Do you think Williams’ comments about Trump were appropriate or a cheap shot? What about Trump’s Twitter response? Discuss in the comments below.
