Did Paula Broadwell Access Petraeus’ CIA Email?

General David Petraeus resigned from his position as director of the CIA earlier today, citing an extramarital affair. Now NBC News is reporting that Paula Broadwell, Petraeus’ biographer, is under investigation by the FBI over improper access to his email.

Slate‘s Fred Kaplan had earlier named Broadwell as the woman with whom Petraeus was having an affair.

According to NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondant Richard Engel, law enforcement officials said they don’t believe that Broadwell will face any criminal charges as a result of the investigation. Moreover, those same officials stressed that Petraeus himself is not under any investigation.

In addition to trying to access Petraeus’ email, the FBI is also reportedly investigating whether or not Broadwell had access to other classified information.

Back in January, Broadwell appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to promote her book on the General, All In: The Education of General David Petraeus. That appearance, which you can see below, is taking on a whole new meaning in hindsight.
