These Overly Voluptuous Venezuelan Mannequins Are Kind Of Ridiculous

The mannequins have very long legs, super-slim waistlines and breasts approximately the size of volleyballs.

2. The mannequins’ new, curvaceous appearance is said to reflect the desired female form in Venezuela.

3. The mannequins’ proportions apparently mirror the country’s most popular plastic surgeries, which include liposuction and breast augmentation.

5. One of the manufacturers of the mannequins is Eliezer Alvarez, who makes the dolls at his workshop in Valencia, Venezuela.

7. Alvarez apparently started making the shapely mannequins after the “simple observation” that normal mannequins didn’t reflect the body shape that many women in Venezuela were now having surgery to achieve.

8. While the mannequins have proved popular, the reaction of the Venezuelan women who encounter them is – rather depressingly – unsurprising.

9. One shop owner who uses the mannequins says she has “lots of clients that come here and say, ‘I want to look like that mannequin.’” She apparently responds by saying, “O.K., then get an operation.”

10. Another woman who works with Alvarez said: “You see a woman like this and you say, ‘Wow, I want to look like her,’” and notes that she does one day want to get plastic surgery as it “gives you better self-esteem.”
