His childhood friend was murdered by a parent. Here’s how this guy copes.
Michael Lee’s friend Stephen had just moved to another state with his father. He told Michael that his mother was acting strangely and he needed to live with his father in California for a while. A few days after he told Michael that, his mother flew to California and killed Stephen.
His friend’s mother had schizophrenia, and she harbored delusions that led her to believe she was protecting her son from harm by killing him. This thinking is all too normal with schizophrenia, but a scenario like this could not have been more a shock.
How does one cope with a loss this sudden? This is Michael Lee’s personal theory.
