Community Post: PSA Shows Us A World Without Math

Children in prosperous countries see math as a “First World Problem” to be endured, but every year kids (and adults) around the world try to make the best of their lives without even rudimentary mathematical knowledge.

Save the Children’s Numeracy Boost wants to change that:

Launching initially in Bangladesh and Malawi in 2012, Numeracy Boost, a new education program, will focus on giving children the basic math skills they need to thrive in daily life. From counting cattle to charting the rainy seasons, these skills aren’t just “good to have.” They are essential to helping children reach their full potential.
