“Ant Nest” Found in 12-Year-Old Girl’s Ear

If you couldnt tell by the title, this one isnt for the squeamish. A nest of ants has been found in the ear of a 12-year-old girl from Deesa, Gujarat, The Times ofIndia reports.

Although she did not feel any pain, Shreya Darji complained of an irritation in her earin August last year.After inspecting her ear, her father reportedly sawlarge ants inside. She was taken to anear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor whoremoved10 ants from theear.

Two weeks later the bizarre ailment returned and Shreya was referred to another ENT specialist in Gujarat state. A video of the ants’ extraction has been posted online, below.

Some reports have statedthatover 1,000 antswere removed, although this remains unverified and extremely unlikely.

How or why the ants got into the young girls ear is unknown to all of the doctors who worked on the case. DrJawahar Talsania, 58, who performed the second extraction, said that he had never seen anything like it in his 35 years of practice.

Dr Talsania told The Times of India, The girl’s case is very challenging for me, as I have never seen such a case, nor found it in medical history. The big ants must be biting her, but the girl did not even feel pain inside her ears. Besides, there was no damage inside her ear.”
