Allan Munroe, an 87-year-old Red Sox diehard, had endured his wife’s passing a few months before. Watching the Red Sox was his escape in her final months, and his family wanted to send him to Fenway to see the brick they’d bought to commemorate the marriage. The family raised money for the trip on GoFundMe, but once the campaign went viral, there was even more. Red Sox owner John Henry gave up some of his own personal seats, and Allan even got to go onto the field, yelling, “Play ball!” to the crowd. Read more on Mashable.

8. Lora Bauer Morris used Facebook to find her husband Mike’s long-lost daughter, Michelle. They reunited after 45 years apart.

Mike was 70 years old and has the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. His wife was able to track down Michelle on Facebook and they flew to Paris to meet her a few weeks later. He also met his three granddaughters, and the family is still close. One of Michelle’s daughters made this video of their time together:

10. Popular street photographer Brandon Stanton (Humans of New York) posted this photo…

The photo was posted along with a caption explaining that Duane (pictured) and his wife had adopted a little girl from Ethiopia. They had wanted an infant, but one night while talking with his wife he saw a picture in a brochure of a 7-year-old girl who had been blinded in one eye. “That’s our daughter,” Duane said. Chaltu, their daughter, is 10 now, and she plays soccer, gymnastics, and basketball. When Brandon asked him if he could share the story on Humans of New York, Duane had a request. “Would there be any possibility that you could help us raise the adoption fees to get her a brother? We’ve already found him, but aren’t financially ready yet.”

The result was over $83,000 raised, which more than covers their new son’s adoption fees, leaving Chaltu and her brother thousands to put toward their education.
